Toy sale
A toy sale can take lots of organisation - first you've got to find and sort the toys you wish to sell. Pack them in boxes labelling them with a price as you go along. You could be posh and get some price labels from the local newspaper shop. These should peal off easily - don't use address labels as these don't peal off and will ruin the toy.
You could use the box system for some things with everything in one box being 20p each, everything in another being 50p each and everything in another box being £1
Be realistic with your prices - this depends on where you are going to sell them.
Places to sell.
Easiest place is at your own front gate. You could use a decorating or pasting table as your counter but most kids think an old sheet spread on the floor is the best way to display your toys for sale.
You will be able to sell your toys for more at a car boot or indoor table sale if you can go along with mum or dad - try and encourage them to have a clear out and sell all those unused presents they have had over the years. You can then make sure that your toys are at the front of the stall and mum or dad will be paying the fee for the stall.
Your school will probably be having a table top sale or your local church, scouts or other organisation - keep an eye on the local shop's small ads or the church notice board and local evening newspaper.
Keep your prices suitably high to start off with but not more than you would pay yourself for a second hand toy. Towards the end of the day or morning or afternoon, whenever the sale is to end, you can start dropping your prices and making special offers. Have fun but look out for the desire to buy things from other sellers or you will probably do what we do and come back with more than you took. Still this is all part of the fun and gives you lots more stuff to sell at another toy sale. Happy trading!
