Bowling
You can of course go bowling at the local bowling alley though the cost can be around £10 for a game for four. Alternatively look for the special offers where you can bowl at certain times of the day very cheaply. At some allies it can be as cheap as £2 per person for an hours bowling. Look in yellow pages. Score keeping is dead easy now as a computer does it for you - even an adult can understand it!

You could of course make your own bowling alley. Skittles can be made from papier mache (pronounced mashay) over milk bottles -  just lots of bits of newspaper stuck with wall paper paste or flour and water mixture  in layers on the bottle.. Vaseline or butter grease the bottle first and do not papier mache the base so you can get the papier mache skittle off the bottle when it is dry. Do not leave the bottle in the skittle - we have tried this with disasterous results!  Paint the skittles with old emulsion paint - there must be old tins of emusion still in your dad's shed. Emulsion paint dries dead quick and can be washed off with water easily as long as you do it before it dries.
A football is better to use than a smaller or tennis ball and it is harder to score a strike (all ten down in one go) than you think.
